What are dental implants?

Dental implants are one of the most reliable solutions for patients who suffer gaps in their smile or need to have unsalvageable teeth removed and replaced. Implants are artificial tooth roots that are inserted into the jawbone. Once fused with the jawbone, this implant becomes a secure base to support your new prosthetic tooth (or teeth), which are connected on top.

Do away with loose-fitting, uncomfortable dentures.  If you struggle from damaged or missing teeth, dental implants are the best solution for you! Being inserted into the jawbone doesn’t just make this a more stable option, but a healthier one too as your natural tooth is emulated from root to tooth.

Dental implants can also be combined with other tooth replacement methods such as dentures or bridges to improve their functionality and give you better, more comfortable results.

THE BENEFITS OF DENTAL IMPLANTS

Our dental implants are made out of top-notch materials from the leading brands in implant dentistry to guarantee that brilliant smile. Their durability makes this a great long-term investment for your smile, allowing you to be the most confident version of yourself all day, every day. With proper care and maintenance, these implants can last for many years and even a lifetime.

Eating and talking is easier and feels more natural with dental implants since your new teeth will be secured right down to your jawbone. This stability removes the discomfort and inconvenience often with other alternatives like dentures that simply sit on top of your gums. These methods can be loose-fitting or uncomfortable to wear, affecting your ability to eat and talk normally. Applying adhesives to keep them in place may also get messy.

The longer you wait to treat your missing teeth, the likelihood of neighboring teeth starting to move and tilt increases. This may lead to biting issues, jawbone deterioration, increased facial asymmetry, wrinkles, uneven wear and cracks that form along your teeth when chewing. Your teeth may also become more difficult to clean, becoming more susceptible to gum disease and cavities. Dental implant restorations are the complete package, restoring your smile from root to tooth. This helps keep your jawbone and smile healthy, avoiding all those complications. Other methods like dentures and bridges are not as effective at preventing certain complications since they only replace the tooth.

Reclaim your smile with dental implants that look and feel just like your natural teeth! Our artisanal dentists apply their craftsmanship to ensure your fabricated, prosthetic teeth are one of the most natural-looking tooth replacement solutions. With U Implants are custom-made to match the colour, shape and size unique to your smile. Once placed, they blend seamlessly with your existing teeth.

Why wait when you can get that jaw-dropping smile faster at With U Dental! Using Straumann Group implants and adhering to specific protocols designed by Dr. Edward JH Lee in our TeethToday process, you may even leave our clinic with your stunning, new smile on the day of the surgery if your case meets the criteria! With our craftsmanship and meticulous planning, we provide the highest quality dental implants and tooth replacement solutions in Hawthorn and wider Melbourne to enhance your smile and your life. At With U Dental, your dream smile could become a reality sooner than you think so let’s get started!

When a tooth is lost, your jawbone can start to deteriorate over time. Dental Implants stimulate your jawbone just like natural tooth roots do. Allowing you to preserve bone density and maintain facial structure. This contributes to better overall oral health and long-term bone health.

A complete and beautiful smile can significantly impact your self-image and interactions with others. Restored self-confidence is one of the remarkable outcomes of dental treatments like implants. When you regain your smile’s beauty and functionality, it positively impacts how you perceive yourself.

Implants are cared for just like natural teeth, with regular brushing, flossing and dental check-ups. Unlike dentures there's no need to remove implants for cleaning or sleeping, simplifying your daily routine.

Titanium Implants

Titanium implants are traditionally used for patients in need of tooth replacement. Our titanium implants are strong, durable and also highly resistant to corrosion. Titanium implants can be used to replace single missing teeth, or multiple teeth, or even support full arch dentures, providing versatile solutions for various dental needs.

Zirconia (Metal-Free) Implants

Zirconia (metal-free) implants are made out of biocompatible ceramic for patients who experience metal sensitivity or simply want a non-metal choice. It is a high-quality, hypoallergenic alternative that is lightweight, durable, and resistant to corrosion. Zirconia material is known for its natural tooth-like color.

What Is The Best Implant
Solution For You?

We have different types of implant solutions available, each with their own advantages.  Once you come in for your consult, we’ll assess your oral health and listen to your smile goals to find the best implant solution for you.

SINGLE-TOOTH IMPLANTS

Single-tooth implants are ideal for patients who have a single or just a few missing teeth. The implant consists of a titanium or zirconia post that is surgically inserted into the jawbone, which is then covered with a crown that looks and feels similar to a natural tooth. Single-tooth implants can last for decades with proper care and maintenance. A single tooth implant restores your ability to bite, chew and speak without restrictions, much like a natural tooth.

Implant-supported bridges

Implant-supported bridges are used to replace multiple missing teeth. The bridge is anchored to two or more dental implants and spans the gap where the missing teeth once were. Implant-supported bridges are more stable than traditional bridges and can provide better long-term results. Implant-supported bridges do not require any alteration to the neighboring teeth, preserving them as much as possible.

Implant-supported dentures / overdenture

Implant-supported dentures/ overdentures are a popular option for patients who struggle with loose dentures. Their overdentures will be anchored to dental implants, which provide stability and prevents the prosthesis from slipping or moving around in the mouth. This means that your implant-supported dentures will be more comfortable and secure than traditional dentures while still removable. With proper care, implant-supported dentures can provide a long-lasting and reliable solution for tooth replacement.

All-On-4 (Full arch) IMPLANTS

The All-on-4 (Full arch) concept of implants is an option that utilises 4 dental implants, which are placed in strategic locations in your jaw to restore a full set of replacement teeth. The biggest advantage of this alternative is that patients with less bone density are eligible for it and it will still be more affordable due to the lesser number of implants used. With four implants acting as anchors, the arch of the replacement teeth is secure and stable, providing a far better ability to eat, chew and speak.

At With U Dental, our dentists have had specialised training and many years of experience in all forms of implant dentistry. Enjoy the most life has to offer with our implants, we guarantee you won’t look back!

How much do dental implants
cost in Melbourne?

Here’s an approximate breakdown of our price guide when it comes to premium dental implants:

Titanium implant + premium crown

$2500 to $3000 + $2000

Zirconia implant + premium crown

$3000 + $3000

Add-on: Digitally Guided Surgery

$600

Please note that the cost of your dental implant can depend on several factors, including the number of teeth being replaced, the type of implant used, pre-treatment procedures etc. For example, the All-On-4 concept can range between $25, 000 – $29, 000.

Our reputable implant dentists will make sure you have a smooth smile journey from beginning to end with no hidden costs or unnecessary complications. Don’t be drawn in by adverts of ‘cheap implants’ as you could be lured into a situation that will potentially be very harmful to your health. Dental implants that are advertised at a fraction of the cost are usually made of low-grade materials that can cause health complications and end up costing much more in the long term.

FAQs

While dentures may be a more affordable option for some patients who lack the bone density required for implants, dental implants provide a more long-lasting and comfortable solution with better oral health benefits and stability. Conventional dentures are prosthetic teeth that sit on top of your gums. Dental implants replace your natural tooth right down to its root! One of the biggest disadvantages of dentures is that they often feel loose-fitting and uncomfortable, and you may find food easily trapped under the prosthesis. Your dental implants tackle this by remaining fixed in place to offer a secure fit that feels and functions more like your natural teeth. It is important to consult with your implant dentist to determine if you meet the criteria for dental implants and which option is right for you.

It is generally recommended to wait at least three to six months after a tooth extraction before having an implant placed. This allows time for the jawbone to heal and for the area to be free of infection or inflammation before the implant is placed. However, our highly trained Melbourne implant dentists at With U Dental are often able to diagnose and provide options that allow you to place the implant on the day of the tooth extraction. We help you reduce the number of surgeries needed and reduce the time spent having missing/damaged teeth.

The length of time it takes to complete a full implant surgery depends on a variety of factors, such as the number of implants being placed, the complexity of the case, and the patient's overall health. In general, a single implant placement takes around 30 minutes to an hour to complete, while multiple implants may take several hours. The entire process, from implant placement to final restoration, typically takes 2 to 4 months to complete but in certain circumstances you may walk out with a crown on the day of the surgery. Once you come in for your implant consultation, we’ll be able to devise a treatment plan with a timeline specifically for your smile.

Our dentists at With U Dental are often able to diagnose and provide options that allow you to place the implant on the day of tooth extraction if your case permits it. After a straightforward implant surgery, most of our patients feel minimal discomfort and usually don’t even need to take painkillers. Most of our full arch restoration and bone graft patients take painkillers for up to 3 days and return to work after 5 to 7 days.

During your implant procedure you will be numb since we have qualified sleep dentistry professionals onsite. You will only feel small movements. After a straightforward surgery, most of our patients feel little discomfort and usually don’t even need to take painkillers. If your dental treatment involves a bone graft or Full Arch (All-On-4) dental implants, this may cause some bruising that peaks on the third day. Your discomfort will start to reduce from this day onward. Most of our full arch restoration and bone graft patients take painkillers for up to 3 days, and return to work after 5 to 7 days.

The most common cause of tooth loss in most of our patients is neglected periodontal disease. This is a chronic infection of the gums that can eventually lead to the loss of teeth if left untreated. Other factors that more commonly contribute to tooth loss include poor nutrition, medications, and certain other health conditions. Dental implant surgery is a safe and effective option for patients looking to restore their smile. It is generally recommended to get implants as soon as possible should you have missing teeth in order to improve the success rate of the surgery. Our implant dentist will thoroughly evaluate your health history and any existing health conditions to ensure the best possible outcome.

Many people wonder if there is an age limit for dental implants. The good news is that there is no upper age limit for dental implant surgery. Dental implants are a great option for anyone looking to restore their missing teeth and regain their confidence. While there is no age limit for dental implants, it is generally recommended to get them sooner rather than later. This is because the longer you wait, the more bone loss occurs, which makes the implant surgery more challenging. There are some additional considerations that need to be taken into account with some of our older patients. For example, our patients may have existing health conditions that could impact the success of the surgery. Our implant dentist will thoroughly evaluate your health history, any medications you may be taking and take into account eligibility criteria to make sure this is the right solution for you.

It's essential to know what to avoid to ensure successful implant placement and recovery. Some of the things you should avoid when getting dental implants include smoking, consuming alcohol, and taking certain medications as this may interfere with the healing process. Your dentist will provide you with a list of instructions and guidelines to follow before and after the implant surgery. Proper maintenance and care are critical to the long-term success of your dental implants. By following proper oral hygiene practices, attending regular dental checkups, and avoiding certain activities before and after implant surgery, you can help maintain your new teeth for as long as possible! At With U Dental, we will walk you through this entire process so you will have all the information you need to start your implant journey smoothly.

You are recommended to not consume any food for up to 7 hours post-surgery until the numbness wears out. Only water or cold drinks are permitted to avoid chewing or burning your cheek or tongue. Generally, we recommend a diet with soft foods, that are not chunky, for the first few days. This includes smoothies, protein drinks, juices, soup, and broths that are more liquid like. Make sure you still consume good nutrition to aid the healing of your bone and soft tissue! After approximately 3 to 5 days, you can start consuming meals that are still soft but less liquid-like, such as pasta, potato mash, sushi, etc. Try to avoid chewing using the area where the implant has been placed. It’s also quite important to not use straws, as this creates a suction motion. This will put pressure on your implants and tissues around them, resulting in impaired healing and implant failure. We will discuss all of this with you during the planning stage of your implants so you are well informed throughout your journey.

Maintaining your new smile is just as important as the journey. And the best part? After-care and maintenance is as simple as it gets! Brush and floss regularly just like you would your natural teeth, with regular dental dental checkups every 6 months.

At With U Dental we simplify the entire process so you can share your smile with the world in no time. Achieving that bold, new smile is really that easy!
