What are Dentures?

Dentures are a removable set of prosthetic teeth used to replace your missing or damaged teeth. Typically made from acrylic, they are designed to look and feel like your natural teeth.

When you have missing teeth, it can cause your jawbone to deteriorate as it does not get the stimulation it needs. This can affect your facial structure and cause your facial muscles to sag over time, leaving you with a sunken appearance. In addition, it can also make speaking and eating challenging, causing your gums to take on the added pressure of chewing in the absence of your teeth, which can be painful.

You may use full dentures to replace all teeth and partial dentures to replace just a few missing teeth. They are fabricated to fit comfortably in your mouth and adjustments can be made to optimise comfort.

Whilst traditional dentures do not stimulate your jawbone, we also offer implant supported dentures at With U Dental that allow you to easily restore your smile, maintain your facial structure and restore the functionality of your teeth!

Are Dentures the Right Solution for Me?

If you have lost several or all of your teeth, dentures are one of the most common tooth replacement solutions available. They are the ideal solution for our patients who do not meet the eligibility criteria for implants.

However, if you’re considering implant-supported dentures, you need to have healthy gums and adequate bone density in order to support the implants. We additionally offer bone grafts at With U Dental for cases of poor bone density but the best way to determine if dentures are right for you is by consulting our dentist. We will assess your oral health and recommend the most suitable solutions for you and how exactly we can achieve it!

Types of Dentures

At With U Dental, we offer two main types of dentures to replace your missing teeth: conventional dentures and implant-supported dentures.

What are conventional Dentures?

Conventional dentures are sets of prosthetic teeth that sit on top of your gums and may be glued into place with denture adhesives. If you’re missing most or all of your teeth, full dentures are a solution worth considering. Conventional dentures can either be complete or partial, depending on whether all or some natural teeth are missing. These dentures are crafted to closely resemble natural teeth in both appearance and function.

Partial dentures are used when the rest of your natural teeth remain intact and you need to replace one or more missing teeth. These dentures are held in place by clasps that rest on or hold onto the remaining teeth, making it important for your remaining teeth to be in good condition. Partial dentures can be made from plastic, metal or a combination of both.

What are Implant-Supported Dentures?

Also known as overdentures or snap-on dentures, implant-supported dentures are attached to your jawbone through dental implants. Say goodbye to uncomfortable dentures that shift around in your mouth; we combine the best features of implants and dentures with implant-supported dentures to provide a more stable and comfortable fit. They are also removable, making it possible for you to remove them and simply snap them back on whenever you want.

Implant-supported dentures offer an innovative and reliable way to restore your smile and your oral function, providing the stability and comfort you need.

Are all or most of your teeth missing? Then, implant-supported dentures may be the best option for you!

What to Expect During & After a Denture Fitting

If you are interested in getting dentures to replace your missing teeth, the first step is to schedule a consultation with one of our friendly dentists at With U Dental. Once we assess your eligibility for dentures and your oral health, we will take impressions of your mouth to craft custom-made dentures that fit perfectly.

If you are getting your teeth removed and need a denture immediately afterwards, we will place temporary, immediate dentures onto your gums. While immediate dentures fit well, they will need readjustments as your gums heal, requiring follow-up appointments with our dentist to adjust them. Once your gums are fully healed, we will fit your final, custom-made dentures in place.

You can also wait for your gums to fully heal after removing your teeth to place your custom-made dentures. The benefit of this option is that the number of adjustments needed in the future will be comparatively less as they provide a better fit.

Either way, it’s important to note that it will take some time to get accustomed to your dentures. At first, it may feel unusual and uncomfortable, and it will take time to get used to eating and talking while wearing your dentures. Our friendly dentists will help you throughout the process and guide you on caring for your dentures to maximise their life and benefits. We also recommend you come in for regular check-ups so we can adjust your dentures as necessary, eliminating any discomfort that may arise.

Cost of Dentures in Hawthorn

The cost of dentures in Hawthorn will vary depending on the type of denture (partial dentures or implant-supported dentures), the number of teeth that need extraction and the complexity of the treatment. At With U Dental, implant-supported dentures may cost around $7000 (using 2 implants).

However, since each individual is unique, we recommend you schedule a consultation with our friendly dentists to get a more accurate estimate, which our dentist will provide after a thorough assessment of your condition.

The good news is that we offer a range of flexible payment plans because we believe that finances should never prevent you from receiving the dental care you need. Starting as low as $110 per week, our friendly team will guide you through all the options, costs, and payment plans to help you make an informed decision.
